Nestled in the urban fringe of Daventry is Daventry Country Park.
It’s around a mile from the town centre, and easily accessible by car, bicycle or on foot.
What’s at Daventry Country Park?
The park has had a number of improvements over the last few years, and now boasts an awesome adventure playground, outdoor gym equipment, numerous picnic spots, a nature trail, bird hides, and a wealth of wildlife.
If you’re looking for a walk, cycle or scoot, there’s a large reservoir with footpaths all the way around, and ducks to feed on the way. It’s around 2.5 miles all the way around.
Bring a ball too as there’s a large field for a kick about.
There’s normally a cafe selling hot and cold food, visitor centre and toilets, although these are currently being refurbished. There are portable toilets whilst the work is ongoing.
In the meantime, this park is absolutely perfect for picnics though.
Dogs are welcome on leads.
Parking is £2 and is pay and display only, so bring change.
The Country Park is still undergoing a major programme of improvements to its play area, paths and walkways, jetties, the cafe area and its toilet facilities. You can keep up to date with these improvements on the project page.
It’s definitely worth a visit for a cheap day out.
